The pre-release hype around ‘Moonnamathoraal’ was huge for the simple reason that it was fully shot with digital camera and is releasing via satellite. However, the film is not worth the hype, as reality tells a different story. Rajesh Jayaraman’s weak script has let the film down. V.K.Prakash has failed to repeat the magic of his debut film ‘Punaradhivaasam’, which won national award. Moreover, the film has shades of many films including Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Horror’.
Two nurses Anupama and Anne come to live in an old palace, as it is their dream. They should have prayed and sing hymns while staying in such kind of house, but the presence of the caretaker of the house has made them bold. They slowly begin to feel scared on hearing threatening voices and seeing figures in dark corners. They seek the help of Dr. Arun, a psychiatrist in order to get out of the problem. They come to know something special about themselves.
In the meantime, a police officer comes to stay in the same old palace so as to provide suitable ambience to his wife who writes horror novels. However, the aura in the house disturbs his wife. Now, he also seeks the help of Dr. Arun to sort out the problem. You have to watch the film to know the rest of the film.
The cast of the film has done justice to their roles but the script has let everything down. Lokanathan's camera work is the highlight of the film. There is not much twist to make you hang on the edge of the seat though it is a horror film.
